Musikalischer Leiter: Andrea Marcelli

Frank Pilato (g), Tobias Relenberg (sax), Ludovico Fulci (p,rhodes), Carmelo Leotta (b), Philippe Ciminato (congas, perc.), Andrea Marcelli (dr) …Contemporary Jazz. A special encounter between some of the most representative Italian jazz musicians, from various regions of the Peninsula, and guests from the Berlin scene, who will perform three concerts at the Kunsfabrik Schlot on November 26th, 27th and 28th. Three nights not to be missed organized by Andrea Marcelli with the Italian Institute of Culture Berlin and the Kunstfabrik Schlot. Possible also surprise guests... Different worlds that blend magically into new creative ways always based on sincere dialogue music! The bands will present original tunes but also jazz rearrangements of famous Italian tunes. Their music is based on sincere musical dialog. Italian or original melodies transporting the listener to places known and unknown, eliciting hidden emotions. The 6th Italian Jazz Festival will open on 26.11 by Gorgone Quartet, a sparkling mainstream Jazz Concert featuring Swinging hard pianist Daniele Gorgone, coming from Toscany, who will join virtuoso Berlin saxophonist Walter Gauchel. A pleasent evening of famous jazz standards also from the Italian book, and original compositions by Gorgone. The task of directing the rhythm sections of the festival goes to always busy and solid bassist Carmelo Leotta and the dynamism and colors of the drummer/composer Andrea Marcelli. Mainstream sometimes modern but always rooted to the Jazz tradition... The 6th Italian Jazz Festival in Berlin will close tonight with the presentation of new project by virtuoso guitarist Frank Pilato and drummer Andrea Marcelli in quintet with great saxophonist Tobias Relenberg, refined pianist Ludovico Fulci and solid bassist Carmelo Leotta. A wonderful experience not to be missed.... Andrea is such a chameleon. When I first heard his music, it struck me that he played drums, clarinet, percussion, keyboards and composed in a variety of styles that defied classification, moreover, his display of sensitivity and creative approach to the work produced."
